Hikiotoshi — Hand Pull Down

Hikiotoshi (引き落とし) is a pulling technique where the wrestler grabs the opponent's arm, shoulder, or head and pulls downward, causing the opponent to fall to the clay. Unlike hatakikomi which deflects from the side, hikiotoshi involves a more direct downward pulling motion.

This technique is often used as a counter to an aggressive forward charge. When an opponent lunges forward with too much commitment, a well-timed pull can use their own momentum against them.

Hikiotoshi is sometimes criticized as an opportunistic technique, but executing it successfully requires excellent timing and the courage to give up a forward position momentarily to create the pulling opportunity.
